I like the purpose of this website, and this is a well thought out article. However I can’t condone “ensuring the survival of churches and all cherished beliefs” being good in any society. Beliefs based on a lack of evidence are dangerous to our well-being and mankind in general. Wasn’t it George W. Bush who went to war in Iraq not because of evidence of weapons of mass destruction but because God told him to? When people are raised to believe in things simply on faith (which begins with Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and absolute authority being right), this sets the stage for a lifetime of not questioning things intellectually, and accepting things not based on rational thought and facts. I would like to see a society that emphasizes science and evidence-based living. That will in turn ensure OUR survival.
